Nice one LEDDWCRigger!
I love seeing little babies pop out, they look so 'pure and soft'.
I'm sure you know better than to stick paperclips in and dig around for a quick look at the unpopped seeds (like I did  ).
Good luck!

Well, I had popped the seeds in a water glass at first, so they'd burst open and get a good rot going. That way I can drop them right into hydroton without worry about needing to fish around.

Number two has popped up over the hydroton line. So has the third. The fourth, still just kinda sitting there.

Going to start one LED unit. Well, only going to use one for now. Probably use both when flowering time comes.

I've made the URL for the live video a bit better.

Be aware my connection isn't the most stable, so on occasion, it might go down. Also, the camera in my cruddy ZTE Score M500 picks up blue TOO easily (probably to compensate for the lacking green,) so the blue washout from the current IP cam view is to be expected until I get something else in place.

So far, I'm looking at three plants. This is what I get for using old and improperly-stored seeds, which a poor water supply just exacerbates. I'll just be content with this, and also make a side journal regarding other plants grown under LED. After all, this is an LED growing forum, yes? :D

Things are going slowly but surely. Better than expected for old and poorly-stored seed. I have three plants!

One and two are fine, but number three is lagging behind a bit, primarily because the thing had issues shedding the seed hull. A little helpful intervention fixed that, and it is opening up and starting its life!

So here we are, now a full two weeks in from seed. The first two are doing well, albeit slow. Not entirely surprising given the age of the seed and the poor storage conditions. I'm using 1/2 of the recommended GH feeding levels for seedlings/cuttings. In fact, these have been in the same water for the past two weeks, and it's about right time for a change. I will move to full strength for seedling/cutting now.

Numero Tres, at least has second set of leaves with third beginning to form!

Numero Dos, just as swell!

Numero uno, looking okay!

One advantage of the bucket-in-bucket DWC system is the reduced water requirements to fill the bucket. The downside, you'll need to refill more often once the growth gets going, and if you don't build in a level meter, knowing your water level is a pain. But it's easy and provides a great base to keep the plants stable. Also, if you don't do the holes large enough, and have enough of them, water spurts up the sides between the buckets, and sprays all over your floor, so construction must be done properly for the top bucket.

Some of these seeds are back from 2007, so they're fairly old given the horrible conditions they've been through!

As you see, looking good here! Things are taking off! I still haven't even changed the reservoir, yet. I really should do that!
