So here we are, now a full two weeks in from seed. The first two are doing well, albeit slow. Not entirely surprising given the age of the seed and the poor storage conditions. I'm using 1/2 of the recommended GH feeding levels for seedlings/cuttings. In fact, these have been in the same water for the past two weeks, and it's about right time for a change. I will move to full strength for seedling/cutting now.
- Numero Tres, at least has second set of leaves with third beginning to form!
- Numero Dos, just as swell!
- Numero uno, looking okay!
One advantage of the bucket-in-bucket DWC system is the reduced water requirements to fill the bucket. The downside, you'll need to refill more often once the growth gets going, and if you don't build in a level meter, knowing your water level is a pain. But it's easy and provides a great base to keep the plants stable. Also, if you don't do the holes large enough, and have enough of them, water spurts up the sides between the buckets, and sprays all over your floor, so construction must be done properly for the top bucket.
