Well, My seeds hadn't done a damned thing. So I turned the cubes upside down and tapped out the seeds. Not a single root had bothered to go any further.

Of course, I set them in a glass of water overnight, the roots start to pop out just fine. I think my pH testing solution is out of whack/too old, or there's something else going on.

First time I've ever had a problem getting seeds to sprout. Funnily enough, my last couple tries to clone from a prior-existing mother in this same place failed miserably as well, and I did nothing different than any other time.

Well, I think I know what the hell has gone wrong with the seeds, and also a few prior sets of clones I tried to take.

The water is not very suitable unless it gets some god filtration and sterilization. I put the seeds back in some tap water (and I sterilize everything including myself when working) and there's now a mold or fungus growing on them. When I tried taking clones the last couple of times, I got molding in every rock wool cube.

Looks like I'll have to start over with some bottled water and crack a fresh batch of seeds.

Ah well! Life's a bitch!

Okay, I've got a bunch more seeds popping in the water. We're going to give this another try since I've filtered and treated the water, and this time I'll let the roots get about an inch or so long before I try moving them.

While I've been waiting for the seeds to pop to the point where I'm happy with transplanting them, I decided I want to get a live video feed of the grow set up.

My first question was 'How am I going to do this?' Well, the answer came as soon as I figured out how to turn my no-service Droid phone into an IP webcam and multiplex it with my LifeCam VX-3000, using ManyCam as the video multiplexer. Now all I need is to get two more cameras to pop in there to fill up all of the spots, figure out what the best broadcast resolution for my laptop will be, and slam it up onto LiveStream.

And in a couple of days I should have those seeds ready to drop.

Fun times ahead! I managed to get all 8 spaces covered with three overhead cams, so we'll have that as a live thing to view from!

http://ustre.am/17rH4 - this should be a working link.

Obviously, no point in having the LED light on yet, but I can drop in the fluorescent so there is true color to see everything for now, as it is low-power and has minimal impact upon my power usage for now!

Oh man, I forgot about the seeds, one had a root almost two inches long.

Four had decent enough looking roots to warrant a transplant into the hydro buckets. I may only be able to get four plants going, as these other seeds, while cracked, are showing very little root growth.

The video room is down for the moment but will be back up soon. With only four buckets in play, I might only need a single camera, instead of multiple ones, so we shall see.

Yep, much better luck and it was the water indeed. My babies are popping!

The one with the longest root.

By tomorrow this one will look like number one.

By tomorrow this one will likely have shed its hull.

This one might not make it. If not, I've got a coupe other seeds still working in water just for reserve.
