Day 48 update

This grow seems to be racing away.... I can't believe how fast 7 weeks have shot by! Back to hot, humid weather with ambient temps up in the 32-38C region most days, and humidity as high as 80%. I keep things in the tent between 20 and 32C.

I am still hand feeding the girls, each has different requirements, as I have treated each plant differently. BAM1 is flowering, so she's stopped having Nitrogen, and I'm giving her 0.5m/L Bud XL instead. I am giving the others 0.5ml/L Nitrogen as they are still vegging, and need to get some height on. They are all getting Base nutes at EC1.1, as well as 0.3ml/L Roots XL, 1.0ml/L Multizyme, and 0.6ml/L Amino Treatment. Bringing it up to EC1.3. I then add the Nitrogen or Bud XL depending on who I'm feeding.

BAM1 just grew and grew, so I let her do her thing, she's on EC 1.6, and drinks like a fish.... 2-3L, 3-4x a day. She's 76cm high and I have bent her side branches out to give her a bit of room. She's taking up the front half of the tent... fat bitch!
day 48 BAM1-1.JPG

She recovered well from her near beheading, and has grown significantly.... you might just see the pale blue plastic stick half-way down the main stem now....
day 48 BAM1-2.JPG

and she's flowering beautifully all over...
day 48 BAM1-3.JPG

BAM2, as you might remember started off slowly, then got infected by some little white bugs, which forced me to radically strip her down and top her a few times in a way similar to mainlining, except I used 3 nodes worth of stems instead of one, so I trained the 6 stems out at 90 degrees to the soil in a radial arrangement, and then topped each stem a few days later. This eradicated the pests, and she has bounced back with great vigour....
day 48 BAM2-1.JPG

She's around 34cm high and is on EC1.5. She has just started to show some pistils, and has a very healthy canopy developing, I will have to use some stakes to spread her out a bit pretty soon.
day 48 BAM2-2.JPG

Finally TD...... she hasn't grown as high as I hoped by now..... plenty of sideways growth, but very short internode spacing in the main stem. 2 days ago, I decided she was looking like Cousin It... big fan leaves obscuring all the new shoots underneath, so I went on a severe hacking session, and removed loads of leaves, and supercropped the branches out (again) in an effort to spread her out a bit, and get some airflow going on.
day 48 TD1.JPG

Her stems are full of knuckles, and she has been flowering for a few days now. She's 46cm high and on EC1.5, but looking at these photos, she looks a little greener than the others, so I might increase it a bit.... maybe that's why she's a bit shorter? Otherwise, she's very healthy.
day 48 TD2.JPG

I'm aiming to finish BAM1 as and when, and then finish the other 2 a couple of weeks later.... they've had a lot of topping, trimming and supercropping, and needed time to recover. This will also give them more room in the tent to fatten up at the end (hopefully).

Thanks for checking in....

that's a bugger, man, how you gonna eradicate the pests?

day 55 update

I'm really happy with BAM1.... she is massive, with loads of flowering sites. The side branches have grown out, giving a lovely even canopy.... I'm wondering if the near beheading has anything to do with this.

day 55 BAM1-1.JPG
BAM1 from the front

day 55 BAM1-2.JPG
BAM1 from the side

BAM2 is the least advanced, having just shown flowers. She has developed plenty of 'main stems' after her brutal topping sessions, and I expect some good progress from her in the next couple of weeks.

day 55 BAM2-2.JPG
BAM2

Finally TD.... she just hasn't stretched at all, and is about a week into flower.... I may need to do a little trimming to expose the bud sites again.... she grows such big fan leaves, that they obscure the growth underneath, and I'm not keen on removing new leaves.

day 55 TD1.JPG

day 55 TD2.JPG
TD from above

They were all on EC1.4 ph 5.8 - 6.2, and they are drinking loads....BAM1 takes 3-4L 3-4 times a day, and I'm worried i might start missing feeds at this late stage. I decided it was time to set up the Blumats, which I did today, taking about 20 mins cutting feed line to length and connecting the bits like meccano.

Blumat 1.JPG

Blumat 2.JPG

blumat1.JPG
2 in each pot opposite each other.

blumat2.JPG
and conncted pot to pot. The feed line is dual core, so black on the inside and white on the outside.

blumat3.JPG
a close up of a dripper at the end of the feed line.

Now I have all this connected to a 60L reservoir, which has been raised 1 metre to give the pressure required to gravity feed the plants.

The drippers consist of a ceramic cone which is filled with water, and a simple screw clamp.
Blumat 3.JPG

The clay cone is a mositure sensor, and depending on the level of moisture in the coco, opens or closes the screw clamp. Therefore the plants only get fed when the moisture levels in the medium drop, preventing over and under feeding, and maintaining optimum water/air levels in the medium. I still intend on giving hand feeds during the day, tailored to meet the specific needs of each plant..... for instance, BAM1 is getting PK13/14 and molasses this week, while it, and the others are fed a standard EC1.5 feed (I upped it from yesterday's EC1.4) through the Blumats, made up as follows.....

EC 0 rainwater as base brought up to EC0.2 with Cal Mag....

....then House and Garden Coco nutes upto EC1.3....

....plus the following House and Garden additives....

    0.1ml/L Drip Clean
    0.3mlL Roots Excellurator
    0.7ml/L Amino Treatment
    1ml/L Multizyme
    1ml/L Bud XL

....making a total EC of 1.5.

Now they have all they need.... light, air and feed.... bring on the buds! (Although I bet BAM2 hermies on me, what with all the shit she's been through.....)

Thanks for checking in!

I got home the other day from work, went straight into the grow room, which is used for smoking in as well..... the door is always open onto the deck..... day and night, to allow cooler air in for the grow. I often pass out at 2-3am in there and on waking, stick my hand out the door and pull it shut, and go to bed. Wifey usually gets up at 5am, and has a smoke... door open again for the rest of the day etc etc.

Anyway.... I get home the other day, and looked out the door, I saw something move outside..... so I went to investigate...... must have been a bird.....I turn to look at our house.....

DSC_0015.JPG

...there's the door to the grow room.... oh what's that hanging from the drainpipe????

DSC_0016.JPG

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

So I got a chair, and had a look at the roof....

DSC_0017.JPG

fancy sticking your hand in there? there's loads of shed snakeskin in there.

...so I went and got some more machettes last weekend, for fuck sake.

Well I've had this uneasy feeling, every evening sitting opposite the door, one eye on the TV, one on the laptop, and one on the door.... it's quiet and dark, and I'm totally paranoid about a snake coming in to visit. The heat from the tent that I'm sitting next to must be a like magnet for the beast... keep warm at night, ready to give birth to heaps of little bastards. :o

I am basically sitting directly under a fucking snake, the shed skin of which is at least 6ft long (so it's now gonna be bigger than that), and I must be getting up at least every minute, on average, getting up, looking out the door to see if there's any action. I am actually having a cold sweat right now.

Thought I'd do a bit of trimming, but I wasn't completely happy zipping myself in, and out (to check for snakes), and in, and out , and in etc etc so I just unzipped the side door and took a few pics to take my mind off the serpent. It''s not working, I feel like I'm getting whiplash, the amount of times I've jerked my head in the direction of the door and strained my stoned eyes trying to focus on whatever might be there. Fucking cockroach nearly gave me a heart attack, but it's all good practice for the inevitable day Percy Python pops in for a cuppa.

So here's the pictures, day 62

sorry if some are a little out of focus, I was kind of thinking about other shit.... you know what I'm saying....

day 62 group.JPG
Group shot
BAM1 is there on the right, well into flowering, TD is on the left, with BAM2 behind her

BAM is looking like a scrog from above, so many colas forming, all in an even canopy. She takes up more than half the tent. I am feeding her a base mix as per last week, but stopped the PK 13/14 and instead added Top Shooter at 0.5ml/L.... hot stuff but it will fatten out those colas!

day 62 BAM1-1.JPG

day 62 BAM1-2.JPG

BAM1 cola.JPG
The main cola seems unaffected by her near beheading.

BAM2 is probably 2-3 weeks behind BAM1 becuse of all the multiple toppings and supercroppings she endured earlier in the grow. She has numerous main stems which stretched a bit this week, and she's now producing nice flowers. I'm quietly hopeful for her... shhhh....

day 62 BAM2-1.JPG

day 62 BAM2-2.JPG
BAM2

Think Different is well into flowering but about 7-10 days behind BAM1. She's grown a bit since last pics, but has a good amout of bud forming. I am giving her some PK13/14 and molasses in an effort to get those buds to poke out from the foliage.

day 62 TD-1.JPG

day 62 TD-2.JPG
TD buds

My only complaint at this stage..... it's bothering me that there are no trichs on the BAM1, and the TD is only showing a few tiny areas of frost.... by now, it should look like I have dusted them.... WTF??? Actual bud growth is great however. Lights on temps range from 15 to 29C, and at lights off can reach a max of 33-34C. RH 44 to 68%.

Thanks for checking in, time for a patrol :? ........ and another joint.
