With my H&G stuff, I start witrh my 'base' water, add 0.2ml/L Cal Mag to act as a pH buffer, and also to get that precious Calcium and Magnesium in.
Then I add my Base nutes.... with H&G they say don't mix them in concentrate, so basically I divide my Calmag-gged base water into 2 buckets, and add component A to one, and component B to the other bucket.
Then I mix the 2.... in other words Ive diluted my A and B before mixing them together.
Then I add my Roots excellurator, multizyme etc then I check the EC and adjust my pH.
When I am using PK 13/14, I will reduce the amount of A and B at the beginning, to allow room for the PK, without pushing up the EC.
You get me? Once you are feeding them and checking the EC of your feed, you'll find the sweet spot, the EC that is best tolerated by the plant.
Keep track of that EC number, and make sure the total EC of the subsequent feeds is the same EC regardless of what you're adding. If you increase an additive or add one, you will push up the EC, so you have to compensate by reducing the amounts of other additives. As I wanna keep the levels of certain additives like Roots Excel and Multizyme at the same everytime, its only the A and B you can reduce to fit in the extra PK.
Man Im stoned so sorry for the ramble there, but you get the idea!
WIth Molasses, use Organic Black Strap.
Dissolve a good few (5-6) tbs in a litre of warm water, keep it in a bottle, and use that to add to your feed, rather than adding it straight.
I used to add 1-2ml/L in bloom, but switched to Advanced Nutrients 'Bud Candy' - does the same job!
The buds needs sugars stored in the leaves, so why not add more! They'll take it if they need it!
WOW, teetee your like the oracle
Firstly, thank you so much for taking your 'high time' out and posting that for me. I really appreciate it.
And yeah, i followed every single word so great explanation, thumbs up from me. I think you're right Canna Vega and Canna
Flores will be my base nutes, which i'm so glad you pointed out because if it didnt state on the product,
i surely would have mixed the concentrate into the same water.
I have stumbled upon some info though that may make life easier this time around. I have heard that using Big Bud by
Advanced Nutes is pretty much the same thing as PK 13/14.
My source is incredibly reliable, so I have decided this time around not to use it… Even though it has already been delivered
and paid for, but that means nothing when you run the risk of killing your babies.
I went with the H&G one by the way. For the most part, i just want to get familiar with the
feel of feeding and gaging how happy the plants are. Before now i had never even used a pH pen… and I didn’t know wtf EC
was till a few weeks ago, so I did’t want to be cocky before i could read the plant and react.
In regards to your logic Teetee it makes total sense to make room for the PK 13/14 by reducing the bases. I really didn't
have a clue.
I do have a list of recommended EC ranges that i will aim to stick to for: Veg / Flower / Late flower but i will use these
as a guide and not gospel, like you say find the happy medium myself.
I also added a few things to the spreadsheet like: age / height / width / strain / feed amount so i have an actual
living breathing way to measure their progress. This starts from day 10. Then as time goes on see if i can determine a trend
through practice.
I have gone with the essentials digital EC meter. I have the pH pen by them and it's worked so far so i just stuck with the
brand.
As for the molasses, thank you very much again... before i started looking at growing, i didn't even know wtf molasses
were
So i am glad you have given me a method for using those as well, some definite good karma coming
your way.
Bud candy was recommended to me when i was looking at the nutes but the dude in the grow shop said molasses do the same thing in a natural way, and are probably safer as a first time.
Really I just checked in to give an update and let you know what's going on with things. I've still got over a week to start feed
so it's all good.
I am really really busy over the next couple of weeks so please bare with me on here, but i will be posting key photos or bits of
info i learn/gather i just cant say i will be posting as regularly, or as detailed.
Peace for now!
